SEBS Thermoplastic Elastomer
SEBS Thermoplastic Elastomer
SEBS is a new high-molecular polymer that combines the properties of rubber and resinous substances. It can not only partially replace rubber substances but also act as their modifier. SEBS has similar elasticity, compression recovery, tensile strength, and weather resistance as rubber. Just like thermoplastic rubber, SEBS is easily thermoplastically deformed. In addition, it can be used for processing. It has excellent compatibility with other rubber materials. It can be applied in a wide range of foaming materials. Since it can be used to adjust the softness/hardness of the final product. Accordingly, the softness/hardness of the finished product can be adjusted from 5 to 60C. Specific gravity is 0.08-0.3. SEBS is very plastic until it cools down. Therefore, if necessary, the final product can be given the required shape immediately after injection, which is applicable in highly complex productions. The already foamed product can be recycled.
Comparison of SEBS with other soft foamed materials
The foamed SEBS has the following main characteristics:
Compression deformation and slipping characteristics are better than EVA foam sheet. Its physical characteristics are quite similar to traditional CR, EPDM, SBR. It has other advantages such as easy processing, no rubber odor, and easier color control. Due to the aliphatic double bond, it has resistance to climate changes, ultraviolet radiation, oxygen, and high temperatures.
It can be used as an additive to rubber or plastic compounds. It can be used as an additive in the production of modified materials for rubber and plastic, such as shockproof, wear-resistant, anti-slip, pressure-resistant, and cold-resistant additives.
